  FESTIVAL REGULATIONS

1) 9th UNDERWATER PHOTO AND VIDEO CONTEST

1-) The contest is open to all amateur and professional photographers and videographers.

 

2-) Deadline for registrations and dispatch is June 01, 2009.

All the inquiries, applications and items should be sent to the contact information below.

 3-) The Organizing Committee will not be responsible for lost and/or damage of photographs and films during shipment and during the festival.

4-) Registration fee is 20
euro for each category. It is free to participate in more than one category. For each additional enrolment 10 euro.

5-) A photograph can not be used in different categories.

6-) The works that participated in the Marmara Festival before can not be used again.

7-) The official languages of the festival are Turkish and English.

9-) Judging: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes, Best National Prize, Jury Special Prize, BSK Special Prize and Special Prizes will be given.

10-) BSK preserves the right to hold copies of the awarded films and slides; such works may be freely used during exhibitions, presentations and imprints of no commercial value provided that the name of the owner is indicated. The original works will return to their owners in 5 weeks' time after the festival.

11-) Awards: Various diving vacations in Turkey and abroad.

12-) Accommodation: Hotel reservations will be made upon request. Please notify the arrival and departure dates and the details of the flights. Above listed terms will be considered as accepted by the participants.

DIGITAL PORTFOLIO COMPETITION

1. Images must have been taken underwater, with a digital camera.
2. The competitors shall participate with only 10 images and only one series - in one CD. The evaluation will be done on the basis of the whole series.
3. Resolution of each image should be 1024*768 pixels. If the rate of the image is not 3/4, The dimension of the image should not exceed 1024 pixels in width and 768 pixels in height. 4. Each image should be saved in JPG format. Furthermore, a powerPoint presentation should be prepared with these image film with 6 secondstransition. Power Point version should be at least PowerPoint 2000-ver.9) 5. Each CD/DVD must contain the original sized copies of each photo in a rename folder as well. (300 dpi,A4, CMYK, TIFF, EPS or PSD is possible as well.

 

DIGITAL MACRO AND WIDE ANGLE PHOTOGRAPH COMPETITION

 

1. All images must have been taken underwater, with a digital camera

2. Each participant is only allowed to present maximum 2 macro and 2 wide angle images, judgment will be made on each image separately.

3. Resolution of each image should be 1024*768 pixels. If the rate of the image is not 3/4, then the dimensions of the image should not exceed 1024 pixels in width and 768 pixels in height.

4. Each image should be saved in JPG format.

5. Each CD/DVD must contain the original sized copies of each photo in a renamed folder as well. (300 dpi, A4, CMYK, TIFF, EPS or PSD is possible as well.)

 

PRINTED MACRO AND WIDE ANGLE PHOTOGRAPH COMPETITION

 

1. Printing format should be 30*40 (cm).

2. Only the unframed photographs will be approved, the works will be framed by the Organisation Committee

3. Each competitor is allowed to present maximum 2 macro and 2 wide angle photographs. Each photograph will be judged individually.

4. The first and the last names, category and the title should be written at the backside of all photos. 5. Digital copies of each image must be shipped in the same package, in a CD/DVD. The formats could be TIFF, EPS, PSD, 300dpi, A4, CMYK.

 

SLIDE-SHOW COMPETITION

 

1. Only digital works are accepted.

2. Two categories of audiovisual montage will now be accepted and judged separately
a) Sound series: sequences of images on the same theme accompanied by a only musical tape. Maximum length : 6 minutes. No additional time will be allowed.
b) Slide-show : i.e. audiovisual montage which develops a theme and which must compulsorily have a commentary, and may also have a music score and soundtrack, with or without mixing.

Maximum length : 12 minutes. However the jury may extend the length of the time allowed by a maximum of 20% if it considers the show to be of exceptional quality.

3. All slide-shows that have not been awarded a prize in one of our previous Festivals may be presented again, providing there have been noticeable improvements.

4. A minimum of 50% of the images must be shot underwater. Disregarding this clause will result in automatic elimination from the competition.

5. Each digital slide-show must be recorded as an executable file on CD or DVD. The screening resolution will be 1920x1200. The slide-shows will be displayed with 1 video projection machine.

FILM COMPETITION

1 Submission format should be one of the followings; DVD, DV, Mini DV.
2 Maximum length should be 20 minutes, Underwater shots should constitute at least the 40% of the film.
3 Films should be either in English or Turkish. English subtitle is a must for the films shot in other languages.
4 Participation with more than one film is allowed.
5. One-paragraph summary regarding the content should be submitted along with the film.

2) 16th LIVING MARMARA UNDERWATER PHOTO AND VIDEO CONTEST

(Requires on the spot dives on 27 June 2009)

1.00 End of the competition and start for the video editing.
